Never Let Go - Poem by Bethan Leigh Rowe

I’m lost in pain without you

My heart beats just for you

My love is but a burden,

If our love isn’t true

They tell us that we’re sated

They tell us that it’s wrong

But our bond is eternal,

Our love is pure and strong

I’ll hold you in my arms, my love

Until the crack of dawn

Ill feel the warmth inside your soul

Until their hate is sworn

No words that can be whispered

They fade upon a sigh

There are no words to sing or say

Except my love goodbye

And with you I’ll forever be

Ill love you ‘til I die

Until each hardened breath of mine

Will cease to sound a cry

Together we shall be my dear,

Together both in pain,

And though they swore against our love

Our lives won’t end in vain

We’ll pray for those who follow

For those who fall in sin

For those who wrong their father’s

For those who cannot win

We won’t regret our weakness,

We’ll die with faith in love

We’ll sail across the pale blue skies,

And watch them from above

Oh sing to us sweet nightingale,

Oh sing our loving song

Oh sing to us of times to come

Where different isn’t wrong

Sing of a time when nought and cross

Can love in joy not strife

Where lovers dance upon a cloud

And live an endless life

So we shall be a waiting,

With hope we’ll end as one

‘til star crossed lovers smile again

‘til battles lost are won
