Not To Have Heard A Word Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Not To Have Heard A Word

So many unconscious.
With minds quick to twist.
And easy to bend out of shape.
Has resulted in conflicts.
Between those in long established,
Relationships.

The reason and cause,
Could be blamed on the ways...
People today choose to communicate.
By using advanced technology.
Eliminating being with anyone face to face.
Creating conflicts and confusion this makes.

Today?
Someone anonymous,
Can text, tweet or twitter another.
To abuse with their druthers.
Messages sent in seconds to demean.
And in 'chatrooms' claimed,
A message they too received...
From one to falsely accuse by name.

Yet...
Not heard to hear in person to speak,
Is that person attacked.
Verbally.
By another approaching,
Disrespectfully in public.
In suburbia or on any urban street.
To hear but not believe.
Words quoted from them to not have said.
But told by someone 'anonymous'.
With it done to cause rumors.
And vicious gossip to spread.

"Uh...
Excuse me.
I neither tweet, twitter.
Or waste time in 'chatrooms'.
To find any interest in that."

-And you expect me to accept,
What you say to me in person to believe? -

"Believe what you want.
If I heard from someone else,
Anything you said about me...
I knew had not been true.
The first thing I would is to ask you.
And...
Done to do without a negative attitude."

-Well...
That kind of time I don't have to waste.
And besides,
These days?
That kind of time to take.
I find unnecessary! -

"And that explains everything,
I need to know about you.
Hopefully to leave you to think about it! "

-People like you with thoughts like that.
Are old fashion and stuck in the past.-

"Thank you.
At least there is something about me,
You will not forget to one day notice.
To remember and reminisce,
The missing of it yourself."
