If you ever leave me
Leave me in the fall
And let me have the whole
of winter to mourn
Don’t ever dare leave me
in the spring
To spend the whole of
summer alone and crying
If you ever leave
Leave me in the night
Don’t interrupt a dream
To tell me lies
And lastly, please
Don’t leave a note goodbye
It wouldn’t help me
understand why
This is a refreshing piece Sonya all the more since it has been inspired by Stevie Wonder's song.....I agree with Patti, the title is brilliant...10+++++++++

This is a very interesting title for a poem. It reminded me of 'Dear John, how I hate to write...... It is a coward's way out really, but if things are absolutely impossible with no communication, at least it can serve a purpose. You have written it beautifully bringing in the seasons and I loved it all. 10 Karin
There is definitely the need for a book on 'The Etiquette of Abandonment' - and your Notes for Leaving would have pride of place! S :)
I just love the title! The inspiration born by the song is quite justified in your lines. A very lovely poem, thanks for sharing, Sonya. Yelena M.

Wow; you are so inspiring. Notes for Leaving is a killer title. I love the bit about don't wake me from my dream (which might be wonderful who knows) just to lie to me as you are on your way out of my life forever. Love that a song inspired this gem! ! (smile)
