Observation Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Observation

Observation
(translated from the Dutch origin by Sylvia Frances Chan)

it was championship week
at my tennis club De Vijverkreek
what I'm going to tell you here
is not about tennis, I feel so queer

at the bar of our fancy club
there sat a good-looking man
next to him his loyal dog

the good loyal dog
his eyes look like more of a frog

guess what he was doing?
drinking beer out of his boss's mug, truly drinking!
afterward the dog-owner
drank from the same mug, the rest of the beer

having watched that scene,
that dear dog for his boss is so precious
of course, has brought with him a disease so infectious
my observation was so clear
that dog drinking out of his boss's mug the beer

perhaps it might be dangerous
that spoiled dog must have a disease so infectious!
really?
of course, I am not sure, just my observation
having watched that, it felt so dirty!
