Old Age - Poem by Rini Shibu

Buds burst forth from the trees in spring
Leaves reappear once again
Withstand winter when cold dooms the leaves.
Eagle emerge from  hibernation
Regains strength and pursues it's prey
They never lose hope when feathers are weak.
The conditions change in life
Hair turns gray and skin wrinkles
Allow your inner beauty to shine
Regain the power and ability.

    Hi Rini,
Fantastic poem, proving that you are a very keen observer- of nature, life!

    The opening line:

Trees burst buds in the spring_- Your choice of words is really astonishing: trees do not just sprout buds; they burst into buds....! ! ! ! The gaity, happiness regained by nature on the arrival of spring is captured here in all its true spirit..

    Leaves reappear once again
Withstand winter when cold dooms the leaves.
Leaves that were doomed by cold wintry days are back, bringing new hopes with them.

Then comes the exquisite image of hope, faith, strength and positive energy: An eagle; that too just out from hibernation....
    Eagle emerge from hibernation
Regains strength and pursues it's prey
They never lose hope when feathers are weak.

This is an exhortation to all of us: : never lose hope when feathers are weak. They should regain strength. And you have to live on..

    The conditions changes in life
Hair turns gray and skin wrinkles

This just natural. As Great Malayalam Poet Kumaran Aasan has written in Veena Poovu:

    Ulpannamaayathu nashikkum, aNukkaL nilkkum...

    But,
Allow your inner beauty to shine
    Regain the power and ability.

With old age, your bodily strength may be compromised. But, we should gain enough inner strength, mental power to surmount this bodily weakness. So that we are able to face the inevitable, boldly...

Great work Rini. The theme itself is overwhelming.

You have added beauty to the poem by your right choice of words and brevity. Brevity is one of the most important and attractive features of your poetry. This leaves it to the reader to weave a web around the poem: a web of imagination. To read again and again... and think... This is why I love your poem... All the best Rini..

    A 10++ for this poem...
