Old Faithful Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Old Faithful

First night out in a while.
Don't know what to expect, don't know what to wear.
Probably same old pair of jeans.
Said after work that I'd go buy a shirt and a new pair of shoes.
Something that'll match whatever I buy.
First night out in a while
Probably go try a new place or two.
If nothing else, old faithful is always there.
Grab a drink, listen to some music.
Something to take my mind off being out after so long,
A familiar face moving at slow pace.
No particular plans,
Long as I am out the house.
At least for tonight.
Thought I'd call up some friends
Don't want to feel too much out of place.
Familiar faces all in the same place.
To my surprise no one picked up the phone.
First night out in a while
I thought it would go something like this.
The same old pair of jeans,
A familiar face in a familiar place.
I fell asleep soon as I got out the shower.
If nothing else, old faithful is always there.
I'll try again later this weekend
