On The First of July(1)
For the first time
Mona Lisa has cried-
For an alone brush:
It is day of birth and death
is lost in the Fog
as a withered leaf fallen
into the heart of this vast universe
without having any attention
To its downfall.
*
On the First of July
Lenore(2) with a white hair
lighting another Candle
at the tomb of life
without waiting
for the coming of any beloved
*
Those stars that you had seen
At the nights of childhood
Pass quickly in the sky.
Where will take their sorrow?
While
old Gogol (3)
coming down from the Alps
wearing his winter fur coat
Soon, dazzling his eyes
With the Lanterns light of the streets
*
After forty-four seconds
coincidentally meeting a nun
Inside a train for Rome
dressed in a black
gives you a key
On the First of July

** The Raven, Poem by Edgar Allen Poe:
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow.
From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore -
Nameless here for evermore.
*** 'The Overcoat' is a short story by Ukrainian-born Russian author Nikolai Gogol, published in 1842. The story and its author have had great influence on Russian literature, as expressed in a quote attributed to Dostoevsky: 'We all come out from Gogol's 'Overcoat'.' The story has been adapted into a variety of stage and film interpretations.
Thank you for information about the First of July- that opened this poem up to me! It is sad to think upon people who do not know when they were born- -there are heartbreaking stories behind such a thing. Now I shall read this again with a deeper appreciation and understanding! 10

This has perked me up Soran another well written and delivered philosophical poem about love and life. And if taken from past snapshots of your life, there are elements of chance or fate finely woven into it. Sometimes somethings happen for a reason. They're meant to be. Excellent poem Soran 10++ and added to good reads.
