On The Shoulders Of Guilt Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

On The Shoulders Of Guilt

Riding high on the shoulders of guilt.
Saddled and strapped.
Allowing to follow a course,
Avoiding feelings of remorse.
Already appearing on one's path.
To then expect,
A pass given by a forgiveness to get.
Is a hopeful and optimistic wish.

However,
It is not the forgiveness,
Needed that one like this should wish
One like this is more in need,
Of a practicing psychologist.

Those who have suffered through,
Conscious and deliberate mental abuse.
With it endured by the ones in public,
Performing guilt tied to remorse.
Are not given the empathy,
Those campaigning for it to get.
To have their misdeeds,
Become accusations to blame on others.
That horses**t doesn't sit too well,
With the anger they attempt to conceal.
But real it is,
Those riding on the shoulders of guilt.
Often are viewed as victims.
Because they have a knack,
For minimizing their evil acts.
As little mistakes turned into petty,
Molehills.
Mountain climbers can not get over.
And the ones attacked to seem to be,
Over-reacting.
Are often declared as holding a grudge.
While wiping kicked dirt and mud,
In their faces in places,
Where remorse riders of guilt to feel...
Aren't soliciting an audience,
Of their evils done to others to see.
