On 'This' Thanksgiving Day Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

On 'This' Thanksgiving Day

We come together,
To give our gratitude and thanks.
With a forgetting at times,
Of those who have come to go...
To allow us to ignore,
Their unselfish contributions to us made.
And how truly blessed we are,
To be able to witness the road our ancestors paved

And on 'this' Thanksgiving Day,
Few can admit...
A missing of our mothers and fathers.
Relatives and friends we can not forget.
With an acknowledgement if it was not for them...
Few of us would have a reason,
To celebrate this day as we come together.
To eat the feast and enjoy this gift God has given!
