One Day Before Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

One Day Before

Rating: 5.0

Too saddest to tell you
today on this First Day of Spring
my Daddy has his Birthday
anyway
he cannot sing
not today nor tomorrow
you'll ask me why?
decennia ago he suddenly died
not of any stroke nor heart-ache
just wanna remember
that Today just One Day after the Northward Equinox
he'd have his celebrations
never congratulations anymore now
not today nor tomorrow
this is not a poem
just a statement
a human document
of one of the most gifted fathers
aquarelles, poetry or feuilletons
even performances at William's Theatre
his weekly sequels of the loving
and living Charlie Chan
besides earning much money
as the top-manager
of STANVAC, Jakarta
that big oil-office
with the red Pegasus
my Daddy climbed its back
and never returned
remembering his Birthday
emotionally on his epitaph
how odd
The Start of Spring
One Day Before his BirthDAY
the annual Northward Equinox
has passed his graveyard
keep smiling is not here today
but grieving will be okay
even though where he now is
he remains my Dearest Daddy and all there is....

I remain, still with the greatest admiration
My Daddy is still laying silently in his graveyard
he'd be no more a part of all celebrations
only his part of heart
still beats in mine....

No Daddy, this is NOT A POEM
just a simple statement from your darling daughter
a greatest lost, this multitalented father

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One DAY before the Northward Equinox and
On the DAY that Springtime has started

is my Daddy every year celebrating his Birthday
already decennia ago and in future time not anymore
the Northward Equinox has passed his epitaph
Beautiful Spring has begun
My Daddy is still laying silently in his graveyard
he'd be a part no more of all celebrations
only his part of heart
still beats in mine....

I am missing very much a multitalented Daddy
except his task as the top-manager of the STANVAC Oil Concern
he also wrote feulletons, sequels with the leading name Charlie Chan
he drew cartoons, hilarious cartoons, I was constant in the cartoons
with a wink to my Mum
he painted oil paintings, aquarelles,
he was also oft on stage
he played Shakespearean roles and also he was the great imitator of
Charlie Chaplin and won the third prize for the competition
had he more time, then surely he'd win the second prize
he had no time for the rehearsals because too occupoed with his STANVAC responsebility, but as a girl I was very proud of his winning
the third prize, because I don't play on stage
but I love to be an actor too.

Please have a read,
thank you so much,
remember this is NOT A POEM, only a STATEMENT
for my Daddy's BirthDay TODAY,

Sylvia Frances Chan

I could see at the lines that for this drawing cartoons
he had full academic years, but he had his own style,
his own signature

still saddest,
Sylvia Frances Chan

First Day of Spring has arrived and your Daddy has his Birthday. You remember him and past saddest moment of life. Tender heart and soul understand's Daddy's emotion. Emotionally on his epitaph remembering Daddy is definitely great. Smiling is not here today but emotionally tribute is given to him through such an outstanding poem...10
