Open Wide Poem by Manonton Dalan

Open Wide

Cotton swab with mint gel
On my gums, can't feel
Three inch syringe burrowing in
Injecting ounces of Novocain
With smile she said 'Are you ok? '
Would rather not say
Rinse my mouth, see trace of blood
Feel numb, wasn't that bad
Got sweat on my palm
Got a knot in my mind
Took my head like coconut husk
Gently press against her chest
'Open wide this won't hurt a bit
Will only take few minutes'
Whining drill, water jets,
smell of burning skin
Vacuum sucking debris to drain
With my eyes close, I silently pray
That drill won't go astray and hurt me
After the procedure, should I go?
No, have to pay 50% due
With insurance you can't be saved
Like paying another mortgage

a trip to the dentist is scary enough, not to mention the cost :)
