Oranges And Roses Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Oranges And Roses

There once was a butterfly,
The prettiest of all the park.
She'd spread her love throughout the park, she'd smile and play as all the other butterflies catered to her need,
Though It wasn't much to please them, she chose none.
Lost in her own little world.
She played free, roaming around the park.
She'd sit upon the swing-set letting the sun gleam across her wings. Her feelers as this time of day was always the best time as the shade rested on the other side of the park.
Her nose caught the scent of two seperate things.
She fluttered closer loomed in by the scent.
The scent of oranges and roses filled her lungs,
Torn, she fluttered a straight line
Boardering the two.
The rose itself was sweet and alluring.
The vine from which it hung was twisted one way or another,
It hung against an old broken fence.
A year or two ago someone took the time and made the rose more beautiful than it was.
On the other hand the orange tasted sweet to her nose,
It hung pleantiful across a green horizon.
It attracted the rest of the butterflies as well as the insects that hovered over by its smell.
She still found the decsion hard as she fluttered by once more.
Her wings grew tired as she saught place to rest.
The orange appealed to her lips as the thrist drove her insane,
The rose on the other hand felt her pain, knowing each and every day isnt one of promise,
Knowing of the hands that once saved its life.
Still the choice was out of both the rose and the orange's vine.
Fighting what's long term and a temporary fix.
Her wings already tired and needing a place to rest.
She saught conveince as the orange wasn't all she hoped.
As half the oranges were dried out with no place to sit
