Pair - Poem by Gordon Jerome

Have you ever noticed the best things come in a pair
Like the famed Ginger Rogers and the great Fred Astaire
Or how about Bud Abbott with his friend Lou Costello
One without the other would be a quite lonely dull fellow
There was Laurel and Hardy and then Martin and Lewis
Sunday afternoon television brought their humor home to us
Do you remember Art Carney and his friend Jackie Gleason
If the honeymooners were funny then they were the reason
How about quick-witted Bing Crosby and buddy Bob Hope
By the end of the movie one got the short end of the rope
There was Batman and Robin, Tonto and the Lone Ranger
Each teamed with the other to keep us all from danger
We had such great singers like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans
Voices you would swear came down from the heavens
Remember Lassie and Timmy and the trouble they’d find
But together they would manage to get out of each bind
In your life if you find another with which you wish to share
You two can chance to become another great honored pair.
“closing thought”
Remember the other in your perfect pair
Never end a day without showing them you truly care
