Parted - Poem by Keith Spencer

There is a place to which I'll go,
A secret woodland place.
Deep in its leafy temples I shall know
The wonder of your innocence and grace,
And see your face framed by the mosses of the forest floor

There I shall sit and watch the breeze,
As it dances with the fern.
And hear it play the music of the trees,
Tuning each branch in turn.
There I shall learn how many dreams my memory holds in store.

Or I shall heed the stillness of the day,
And listen to the bee
Buzzing the endless, pointless, hours away
Till you are there with me.
Till we are free,
And time allows our lives once more to move.

And though I go there on my own,
When once it was we two.
Yet I'll not find myself alone
Amid the verdent splendour we both knew
I'll think of you,
And I shall be surrounded by your love.
