Parvaneh flapped her nascent wings
Her lips sewn shut, why she sings?
Her voice choked by a feudal crush
Mullah's decree is a sterile hush
Clergy's bluster drowns her voice
A national prodigy is left no choice
In crypts and cellars, confined space
She hones her skills for the final race
In faraway lands, a nightingale sings
Oceans across, in her homeland rings
Never frowns hast broken a will
Or melodic songs on a window sill
Harangues and tirades rang outside
So the montage and reaper's ride
The Piscean's songs rode the sky
To lecturing pastors gave the lie
A fluttering candle shall sing no more
As the boat is set for a distant shore

This is a sincere and noble tribute to an artist. You capture thr quality of her performance which clerly fulfills thr expectations of Iranians ears, but beyond her musical excellence is her persecution by those who do not trust art. It's sad she to leaved thr land and people who inspired her art to find thr safety to perform her music f-r-e-e-l-y. A nd artists over the globe need freedom to be creative. I have several cds of Iranian music including Shahram Nazeri singing inspired by Rumi poems and the Dastan Ensemble singing poems of contemporary poets. It took me about three listens for the beauty to percolate and give me JOY!
