Picture Perfect! Poem by Ashika Murali Acharya

Picture Perfect!

Rating: 5.0

Half of my life, I lived in my head,
In shades of grey, white and red,
Talked all to myself, all day, every day,
Fiddling in the mutiny of rights and wrongs,
Midst the chaos of unsaid words,
A thought, just ruminates on and off,
That one day for sure,
I would talk my mind out,
And heads would lend me an ear,
That listens and not merely hear,
All those profound thoughts,
That brewed up all day, each day.

I time travel, back and forth,
At the will of my wish,
In the split of a second,
In the dark of the night,
Or in the glare of bright light,
To erase the past, to correct a story,
Clear the fights of unripe selves,
To meet those I did never greet,
Share the thoughts that I never told,
To show up the murky face to some,
Those to whom I have always smiled or waved.
The unclear fears, the unshared love,
To let few know that I did care,
My heart did long them more and more

We veil our feelings all day, every day,
May be we were taught to be so,
Or we fear a long sour scene,
We express less, we say nothing more,
Live the picture perfect life galore,
But we live our life just in our heads,
And parch in the pitch of a hoaxed life.
