A New Beginning Poem by Ashika Murali Acharya

A New Beginning

Rating: 4.9

There sure would be a perfect reason,
For life to change in every season,
Slowly the gritty backdrop of my theater changed,
The actors continued on their stage.

A whole new air and the clean wide path,
A bunch of chirpy folks with no pain smeared
A wide grin greets you every where,
Hi honey! they say with so ease,
My stone faced gaze would return the greet,
Followed with my meekly smile hiding the stun.

Met people of all size an shape,
Color and creed, beautiful and foul
All content in their own frames,
It looks so from a far,
But they too fight their own war,
In disguise, under their own skin,
Hiding the muse from the world,
That wouldn't heed to their pain nor cry.

I still let them walk through my mind,
With their fresh clean feet,
And their ever bright smiles,
Flashing a profound new style.

I saw them rejoice every sec,
For they never saved it for any latter day
That day which would never come,
It is just this moment that you have in hand,
Not a second before nor a second after
Spend it wisely as your wish,
This anthem tapped in all their feet.

I absorbed them drop by drop,
The goodness that they carried in,
The truths that I need to learn.
That may be a reason now,
For life to change in this season,
To teach me something new this time.

Oh. My. Word. I love your voice. And oh how I appreciate how you look at this world and the players in it. Your views are fresh and alive with intelligence and charm and yet there are shadows of life experiences behind some lines that make me wonder what and why and admire your clear-eyed gaze at this new world you find yourself in. 10++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thank you for reading the poem and for making me google Tracy Chapman, but i guess Tracy and me are talking about different things altogether. Here i am trying to appreciate the openness and enthusiasm of people of a different culture, which of course fascinates me when i moved to US from India. Anyways thank you again
