A few days ago
We went to the beach...
Beautiful white sand dunes!
My darling oldest daughter
Much to my delight
Entertained the little ones
And kept them both in sight
They buried her with sand, you see
Right up to her sweet neck
The only thing left out was
The hand the seagull pecked! !
That's right! ! That rotten beastie
Tried to eat my daughter, dear
And when she turned and saw it...
It gave her quite a scare!
Poor daughter dear
Threw off the sand
And quickly grabbed
Her injured hand
Then to the waves
She did go
To cool the bruise
That hurt her so
Some time later
I saw her run
And thought that she
Was having fun...
Until, I then realized
She was chasing bird
Across the sand
And this is what I heard....
' I'll pluck 'im naked
And shave his head! ! ! '
Could be worse!
He could be dead! ! !

Love the story and the poem. Still smiling and know I will be for a while. Zen
The little scavenger probably thought your daughter's hand was a fish flopping in the sand...maybe he'll think again before causing someone pain! 'Ok, is that food down there or is it that little girl who chased me across the sand...' Enjoyed your poem Dee! ! Hugs, Diane
