Principles Lost Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Principles Lost

Shredded.
To be thrown,
Into cardboard boxes.
Principles lost.
Tossed.
Over a bridge to burn.
And seen are the culprits.
Arm in arm.
Under the bright light of Sun.
Skipping down a manicured paved road.
Joking.
About how they had taken an oath.
Promising.
They were the only ones capable,
To strengthen a bridge.
Left in flames.
Spreading into the atmosphere,
An arid not to dismiss choking smoke.
