Printed Text Written Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Printed Text Written

So vast and unending,
Is the information to research.
And seldom does this vastness satisfies,
Who or whomever...
Thrives to obtain all there is to know.
This...
Even a certified genius,
Would admit this to attempt...
Is an inconceivable possibility.
Best to leave abandoned.

Although,
Many will expose their 'brilliant' minds,
Acquiring knowledge.
From printed text written.
And published by folks,
Who select what best...
Represents their interests.
With this to hope 'scholars' quote,
From ancient books and dusted scrolls.
Found in the deepest caverns and caves.

Printed text written.
Used to adopt knowledge to obtain it.
Is just that.
Adapting to adopt to thoughts,
Someone else either had or recently has.
Confining this knowledge,
To the limitations of 'their' experiences.

Should this be regarded as wisdom?
Sure.
Why not?
However...
A wisdom to have it and it to share,
Only depicts...
Knowledge to have acquired it,
From what has been experienced.
But no one can prevent,
Knowledge and wisdom...
To acquire from another...
From overstaying its visit.

And like anything to have had,
In a past that leaves.
So does one's knowledge,
And wisdom of it...
Should anyone believe,
It be everlasting and valued...
As a need to celebrate its significance.
When many,
Living their lives...
Free from limited restrictions,
Find it difficult to relate...
To that which has,
No significance to them at all.
Especially,
If it is not in their DNA.
