Psalm 1 Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Psalm 1

People rejoice with immense
irrepressible smiles
when they refuses to follow
the advice of anyone
who would harm another,
nor enter the paths
of the unkind,
nor sit in the gathering
of the proud-hearted
but find their hope
in the sublime thoughts
of their higher self
and meditate well-being
through the hours of the day.
Such a soul is like a beautiful plant
growing continually beside
a pleasant stream,
their every flower blooms
in happy seasons
and never fades,
there is only prosperity.

It does not go this way
with the unkind who don't believe
in the expressions of mercy;
they are like abandoned newspapers
that get blown away down empty boulevards.
People not grounded in love will not endure,
they lose the hearts they hold most dear;
A benevolent universe keeps a protective eye
on the friendly and helpful
but those who neglect good intentions for others
will disappear without remembrance.

People not grounded in love will not endure, - -but they certainly cause a lot of damage before they go
