Reasons To Get Angry, A Turkish Poem By Behçet Necatigil In English Translation

As we grow old
Our reasons to get angry
Get multifold.
Remember, all things that
In our youth
We shouldn't have done.

For a good poem or a story
We live our youth for a while
Weighing ourselves on broken scales.

Days pass by
Time is over.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
the original poem and another translation

KIZMAK İÇİN NEDENLER

Kızmak için nedenler
Çoğalır yaşlandıkça
Anımsanır, yapılmamalıydı
Şunlar şunlar gençlikte.

Bir güzel bir şiir, güzel bir öykü
İçin yaşarız daha bir süre
Tartarak
Gençliğimiz ne çekti bozuk basküllerde.

Gün sayardık
Günler bitti.

EXCUSES TO GET ANGRY

Reasons to fret
Breed older and older you get,
Recollect, all those things
Better not to be done, in youth.

For a good poem or a short story
We keep living for a while
And on broken scales
Weighing our youth

We counted days
Left no more.
