Scary Movies! Poem by Brian Mayo

Scary Movies!

Rating: 5.0

I like the scary movies, whether classic or brand new
The bloodier- the better, is my twisted point of view
I hope to see the victims disemboweled with an axe
Until some entrails hit the floor I just cannot relax.

Show me brains upon the wall, with picturesque blood-spatter
Serve them sliced and lightly-seared with almonds on a platter
Or siphon them through plastic tubes directly from the skull…
As long as minds are traumatized you know it won’t be dull.

I loved it when the Alien came bursting through Kane’s chest
With all that blood and screaming you can bet I was impressed
I cheered when Alex Kittner’s shredded raft washed on the beach
Those Great White teeth tore through him like a juicy Georgia peach.

When little Regan got possessed her bed rose from the floor
Her head spun all the way around, but still I wanted more
And then she started vomiting and snapped a grown-man's neck
I almost choked on popcorn at her show of disrespect!

I need my dose of severed heads and kids beneath the ice
To see a toddler sacrificed with ancient knives is nice…
It sure was great when mommy took a nosedive to her death
Just give me freakish accidents to leave me out of breath.

A bolt comes loose, a pigeon lands, a nail-gun runs amok…
I love the moment fate decides that you’ve run out of luck.

Second encounter and I'm betting you can't keep it up. I am not a fan of violence but you have gorgeous wording and that I can respect. Kelly and I are going to compete by taking the same old joke and converting it into a limerick. If your quality level continues, I am sure you will be invited to join in. Wouldn't it be a kick if all three limericks were identical like three monkeys at a keyboard?

Nicely written Brian. I think we have many things in common.

HA HA HA! Your writing reminds me of a bit more mature, ever more sardonic Shel Silverstein. I really think your poems are pretty hilarious, but also well written. This was great! I am still scarred from watching Friday the 13th, when I was like 11 or 12...
