Scenes From The Rally Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Scenes From The Rally

And...
Action!

"Here we are,
At our latest campaign rally.
Surrounded by a mob,
Of shouting and screaming protesters.
Shoving and pushing.
Trying to prevent us,
From gaining entry into the stadium."

Cut. Cut. Cut.
We can not film these scenes,
Without protesters.
Where are they?

"They told us to buzz off.
And they were not in the mood,
To be incited to riot."

WHAT?
Use it!

"Use what? "

Them telling you to 'buzz off'.
But react as if highly insulted.
Express some kind of indignation.
Be more dramatic.
We've got to get something on film,
That proves to the viewing audience...
How uncivilized these people are.
Try harder.
Don't forget...
This upcoming election,
Is the most important.
Our ways and quality of life,
Are on the line.
And...
Action!

"Here we are.
At our latest campaign rally.
The stadium is packed with cheering people.
However...
A mob has grown outside.
Screaming and shouting vile epitaphs.
Shoving and pushing.
Determined to prevent us from gaining entry.
Please. Please attack us. PLEASE! "

What on Earth are you doing? ? ?
Stop. Stop running after them.
Cut. Cut filming. STOP! Stop action.
