Serious Enough Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Serious Enough

A crisis serious enough,
That bites and awakens...
A sleeping butt.
Will be the butt,
To quickly jump up.
Knowing snoring through it,
Prevents a peaceful quiet night.
Taken for granted.
In a gated to guard,
Suburban neighborhood.

'Ow...
What in the World? '

-What's the matter, baby?
Another nightmare?
Having those visions, again?
Of elitists in the backyard,
Dressed as criminals.
Wolves and corrupted thieves?
Deceiving themselves to be,
Gladiators.
And self righteous saints!
Go back to sleep.
How many times,
Have I told you...
Eating before going to bed,
Does not a healthy mind make!
Especially during these times.
When people are threatening,
To burn to the ground...
Every delusion,
We all have earned to keep.
As safe as possible.

'You don't understand.
Whatever it was,
Bit me on my butt! '

-Well...
Maybe it knew,
Something you will soon find...
Serious enough to discover.
And do what it is,
You need to do.
On your own.
Since,
I have done my best...
To try to get you,
Not to overlook...
Those warning signs,
That just could be detrimental! -

'Like what?
What warning signs? '

-Like listening.
With undivided attention given.
Who knows?
It was your butt bitten.
Not mine! -

'Dare I not mention size! '

-Keep that up.
You will eventually learn,
A lesson to remember.-

'You...'

-Say it.
I dare you! -

'Liberal.
Satisfied? '
