MANN
Tumhe dekhkar
Mann khushi se jhoom uththa hain
Jaise pehli baarish ki boondoon ko dekh
Kisaan ka dil roam roam khil jata hain
English Translation (by our PH Friend Ms.Shahzia Batool)
Looking at you
my heart gets as excited
as the farmer's heart dances merrily
upon feeling the drops of the first downpour...
ICHCHA
Hamari koi koi ichchaye
Adhuri reh jaati hain
Jaise baarish ke paani ko simatkar
Hamari gili hatheliya khali reh jati hain
English Translation (by our PH Friend Ms.Shahzia Batool)
Some of our wishes
stay as not granted from above
as if after feeling the moisture of rainfall
our wet palms stay empty...
SAMAY
Samay nikla ja raha hain
Jaise mutthi se reth
Jee lo naaki ise gavao
Nahi ho paayega dobara isse bhet
English Translation (by our PH Friend Ms.Shahzia Batool)
The moment is getting slipped out
exactly like the grains of sand from the hands
live life without wasting it
the time gone will never be back...
In each stanza there runs a parallel of Man's world with Nature...in fact what happens in the world of Nature becomes an allegorical representation of human life...the image of a farmer is a complete image: Looking at you my heart gets as excited as the farmer's heart dances merrily upon feeling the drops of the first downpour... Some of our wishes stay as not granted from above as if after feeling the moisture of rainfall our wet palms stay empty... The moment is getting slipped out exactly like the grains of sand from the hands live life without wasting it the time gone will never be back... Nice symbolic poetry! ! !
@shahzia mam, thank u so much for giving such an apt translation of these Shayaris in English in a very poetic way..........loved it!
i have no probs to go ahead iwth the suggesstion of Mr.Ramesh Rai....Shahzia Mam, your views on this please
whenever sister Shahzia Batool translate any poem either hindi urdu or english the poem gets it own shape n looks more glittering as if she has polished with emotion of her soul. like one of my poem in her page with title'A POEM OF RAMESH RAI' n poem by Valsa George. i advise you Kavya to post it on main page n mention translated by Shahzia Batool or allow her to post in her page so that the world may read your thoughts. i find full accuracy in her translation. my hindi poem initially with title ULJHANE then changed to EK NAZM got no reader but when it was translated it got so many compliment. still my one more poem NILAM which i created during 1975 has a little reader.if sister Shahzia translate it n post on her page i shall b too much oblised. i hesitate to say if she gets extra burden. thnx for sharing. emotion n thoughts are nicely expressed
