Siddhartha And Gautama Buddha - Iii Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

Siddhartha And Gautama Buddha - Iii

Rating: 4.3

The skies of Lumbini was gleaming
Under the glory of heaven's grace
In the full moon night of Vaisakha
Marking the birth of Siddhartha.

Casting a dark shadow of grief
Over the entire Shakya kingdom
And In the heart and life of the king
Queen Maya bid her last farewell

King Suddhodana was keen
To complement in Siddhartha's life
The untimely loss of his mother
And to keep him happy always

All the king's efforts to keep away pain
And sufferings from his son's notice
Turned futile as he watched people
With disease, old age and poverty

The impact was such that he decided
To forgo the pleasure of affluent life
And adopt asceticism for purification
And attaining everlasting enlightenment

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
God has created every creature for the sake of fulfilling a purpose. Vedic and epic stories tell us about emperors and king's who thus became sages inspired by devotion
Buddha differs from them by his sacrifice for the sake of human sufferings.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

When Siddhartha saw pain and suffering in this world, he questioned the reason for suffering. The sight of poverty, old-age, disease, sickness and death startled and impacted his mind deeply. He had to find an answer and solution to the sufferings in this world. A quest in search of truth! ........Beautiful poem........10

A death and few question attached to it forced Gautam to become Buddha, the enlightened one. For wisdom he left all luxuries aside and lived like a darvesh.5*
