Before starting on her new journey
She turned and looked back
Her house stood silhouetted
Against a cobalt blue sky
A solid square mass
Crowned with beautiful cornices
Melancholic, mysterious, magical
So has her life been
The years she spent there
Living each moment to the full
The flow so swift
She had no time to absorb
All that went under the bridge
The image of her life
Merged with the silhouetted house
They bade each other goodbye
As the moon rose
And walked alongside her
To where her destiny led…
Part 2. After marriage, the house "she" was born into, "she" spent her childhood is no longer hers. And "she"bids farewell to it forever. All this is said in the poem, without being said. Loved it.5 *s
Each reader interprets the poem differently...that is the magic of poetry! Thank you!
Hi Ruta, In the Indian context this poem has many levels of sensitivities. We are very sensitive about the house we live in, spend our childhood… And when the Protagonist is a "she", this house could connote a "maaika" and the occasion could be her marriage..
