Sitting In An Autumn Valley Poem by Darlene Walsh

Sitting In An Autumn Valley

Rating: 4.9

Moss covered walls beneath a gambrel roof
As sitting beside a brook I ponder aloof
The valley blanketed with Autumn's hues
And fluffy whites sailing in aerial blues

Hazy summer is now a chimeric memory
With vital thoughts both pensive and merry
Bright blue eyes beneath his sandy mane
Kissing such sweet soft lips was my bane

As we shared a picnic on the knoll
He swallowed me, heart and soul
His promises warmed me to my quim
And filled my passion above the brim

In his caresses I gave my virtue
Enjoying his pleasure until past curfew
Then a summer filled with unbridled passion
Draped in his arms was my enduring fashion

Until I learned of my enceinte womb
Vehemently he refused to be my groom
He was the waning moon of my night play
Rather than the sustaining sun of my day

Now summer is gone and so is he
I know now it wasn't meant to be
I was ignorant to his prurient ways
Now regreting his lies all my days

Moss covered walls beneath a gambrel roof
As sitting beside a brook in a family way
Springtime growth will include a nursling
And forever will be my little angel and me

Sitting beside a brook in a valley in the autumn, memories fly back to a time in summer when a girl got duped by a handsome guy! Their love had all the thrill and charm of a vigorous romance until things took a drastic turn when he learned that she was carrying his child in her womb! This probable story is given a realistic touch with the first person narration! It shakes the heart and takes us to the emotional turbulence of a would be single mother! A beautiful and poignant write Darlene!

A nice poem with a nice caption. Your vocabulary is splendidly rich. 'He swallowed me, heart and soul' - this line says more than the words can mean. 'His promises warmed me to my quim And filled my passion above the brim' - nice! Loved the description. Thanks to poetess Valsa George for bringing out the summary of the poem so nicely in her comment.

A very interesting write. The rhyming is very good. A blending of natural phenomena in the physical sense and the nature of human emotions. A sad tale of abandonment extremely well written.
