Slumlords Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Slumlords

Slumlords.
Politically connected.
Mentally affected,
By ego and narcissism.
And...
Creators,
Of blighted inner city neighborhoods.
Self righteously accusing to blame,
Those picked to be disenfranchised.
Those living their lives surviving,
Through disparities and lies.
Implemented to have,
Those with noses to raise high.
Feeling the power to inflict,
Suffering upon others.
As they feast upon greed and selfishness.
Done to do,
While standing on the backs...
Of truth to delude it.
Kept to distract facts and reality.

Those enriched by theft and greed,
To not have earned a cent...
Of their stolen wealth.
Claimed documented to validate.
Are the ones instigating hatred.
On a daily basis to implement.
As they escalate higher rents to pay.
Knowing this to do,
Will enforce those to vacate...
Places already condemned,
Unfit for human occupancy.

Although deceiving their misdeeds,
Does not free those slumlords.
To depict themselves,
As goodwill doers and spiritual deities.
Or saviors of the ones,
Living under dire conditions.
With it known who the vultures are.
And their relationship to those who sit,
In political positions dictating...
Division, hatred and wickedness.
To charade their incompetence.
And betrayal to mask a progress,
They enjoy to have had...
Dwelling in the bowels of gutters.
To have it believed,
Others are the cause of what stinks!
Yet...
Legitimizing the picking,
Of whatever they have got...
Left,
From their pockets!
