I can't remember who,
but think it wasn't you.
Somebody loved me once;
I think that statement's true.
I can't remember when,
but think it wasn't then,
back when I was sixteen
and you were in the pen.
You got a term for life
because you used your knife
when that old gentleman
surprised you with his wife.
You were my hero once;
oh, I was such a dunce!
Your stupid fall from grace
was written on your face.
Somebody loved me once;
I can't remember who,
somebody pure and sweet;
I'm sure it wasn't you.
When the mask fall all that is left is regret confusion and pain. Very touchy poem
Wonderful. Loved these lines: You were my hero once; oh, I was such a dunce! Your stupid fall from grace was written on your face.
The poem depicts the emotional turmoil when someone discovers that the person he/she loved and put faith turns out such a rogoue! Your feelings were true and you can not accept the fact the person you loved is really not what he seems.

An excellent Anaphora. I have enjoyed tremendously
Thank you, Sylvia. You have taught me a new word. I had to look up 'Anaphora' to see what it was.
