Sonnet-1-The Haze Poem by Loke Kok yee

Sonnet-1-The Haze

Rating: 5.0

While others are blessed with winter
Here we are plagued with the haze
Your weather is part of natures wonder
But we have it made by forest razed

While snow covers your lawn so white
Here my world is a swirling sea of dust
Long we will have to endure this blight
Suffocating endless from dawn to dusk

While you happily sleigh in the snow
Here we have a shrouded sky all grey
Outdoor events and leisure forgo
The sun unseen throughout the day

In winters cold with a fire bright warmth and comfort attain
In a choking haze with windows tight breathing is still a pain

Nice sonnet. Smog! True...I hadn't really thought of winter and snow as a happy alternative to haze, but I think you're right. Placing the two against each other presents an interesting conflict. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful sonnet Loke on the haze you are clouded in. Unfortunately it is partly your own make and chiefly the Indonesian. islands......! I wonder why the forests are always set to fire! The haze is not only suffocating but can cause serious health problems like Asthma! As a citizen of Malasyia, you have expressed your anguish so powerfully! A 10

A beautiful Sonnet in flow and rhyme and gee it's too bad the weather, though perhaps the warmth is lovely to deal with...10
