Statues On The Road Side Poem by M. Asim Nehal

Statues On The Road Side

Rating: 5.0

The gimmick this society plays
Is the misery of human it displays
When they were alive and wanted to share
They agitated and made them despair
Now when they are gone
Their ideas look bright and tone
Yet they are punished even after death
They are made to stand in all-weather without breath

The poem deals with our hypocrisy with regard to installation of statues of leaders of various groups and ideologies on cross-roads or road-sides. So much so, it becomes a mockery. Thanks. Yet they are punished even after death They are made to stand in all-weather without breath
