Like a dog roaming the street,
I've scratched and sniffed,
Searching for something good to eat.
There's nothing like a stomach full
Of truth, regardless of the weather.
You can't beat a good night's sleep.
On the best of days,
I've eaten from your hand,
Yet my stomach still twists and turns.
My heart and my feet both worn,
That bad taste still lingers.
I sit and I wait,
Hoping that instead of the lies
I am fed,
That there will be a bit of truth
Mixed in.
The thought of a collar or a place
Beside your bed the furthest
From my mind,
Though my stomach is a mess.
Eventually I'll be a ghost
No longer dirty, no longer wandering around. Although skin and bones,
The truth lies right in front of me
