Stretched Out Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Stretched Out

Gone is my comfort zone!

You stretched me out.
From a place I felt safe.
And you stretched me out.
Like a rubber band,
Pulled until it pops.
Stretched out.
And now I see for myself,
To believe...
Nothing in this life,
Is guaranteed!

No longer what's not wanted,
Is a goner to leave.
Or see that done,
To have it back away to flee.
Oh No!
And no matter what the time,
It is...
Day or night.
Somebody puts a spotlight,
On their issues to incite.

Stretched out from stress.
And...
Even left alone I find,
Your groans make me moan.
To condone.
On my own.

Infested with your mess,
Is now my comfort zone.
