Sunken Vineta Poem by Tilly BoescheZacharow

Sunken Vineta

I listened within myself
and heard the sounds of bells.
On wings of birds
and shining gleam
I slid into the sea.
And when I had emerged again,
I knew - there was no doubt in me -
that clinging deep down in my soul
Vineta - that had sunken lies.

(Translated from the German original by Prof. Werner Manheim and Mitch Cohen;
Voice: Max Berghaus, Music: Jürgen Wagner)

VERSUNKENES VINETA

Ich versank in mir selbst
und hörte Glocken in mir klingen.
Auf leuchtendem Glanz,
gleich dem Vogel auf Schwingen,
glitt ich ins Meer.

Als ich wieder auftauchte,
wusst ich von selbigem Tag
dass tief in meiner Seele
Vineta, das versunkene, lag.
