Surviving Death
Death in dead of night...
Somehow I survive...
Richard Wlodarski (c) 2026
Sometimes we are visited with this kind of feeling but we manage to survive through courage, resilience, and faith. Brilliant write.
Certainly this was the case with my near-death experience! Re: Kerouac, in spite of his early death, he continually survived for the very reasons you mention!
Richard, you've said so much in so few words, but the picture you paint is significant. I always appear to have a dark outlook, so from my point of view surviving would not be a good thing. I enjoyed the poem. : -(
The ambiguity in my poem is quite intentional. Kerouac did most of his writing at night and was quite dead by end of night. He had witnessed his brother dying at the age of nine, and throughout his own life, he had become obsessed with death. Specifically, if his soul would be reunited with Gerard.
Thank you very much for your positive constructive criticism, Tamara! I have been striving for succinctness with this series because they are being transformed into books (2 thus far on Amazon & 2 more to go) .
