Sweltering Summer. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Extremely painful is the
intense summer heat,
pierces like spear.
Dry are the wells,
ponds and rivers,
down goes the
ground water.

Plants and animals feel
the pain of thirst.
Supply of water and
electricity is
at its worst.

Normal movement in the
noon time is restricted
by the administration.
Heat stroke is the predominant
fear, one has to
take precaution.

Mangoes, jackfruits
get ripened to give
us sweet juice.
Jasmine blooms
everywhere,
transmits its fragrance.

Unendurable, but
very useful for lives
on the planet.
Helps evaporation,
creates clouds and rain,
supplies the elixir of life,
works as a mascot.
