Tagore's Nationalism Poem by Mohammad Muzzammil

Tagore's Nationalism

Rating: 5.0

Rabindranath Tagore, a man of great renown,
Was known for his poetry, his art, and his profound
Thoughts on nationalism, a concept oft-debated, In India's struggle for freedom,
Tagore's views were highly rated.

While many saw nationalism as a force to unite, Tagore saw it as a divisive, dangerous plight, One that could lead to conflict and strife,
And pit one nation against another in life.

To Tagore, nationalism was but a narrow view,
That saw one's country as better, stronger, and true,
It ignored the bonds that connect all of humankind,
And stoked the fires of hatred, a path to bind.

For Tagore, true patriotism lay in love for all,
A universal brotherhood, that transcended walls, A bond that celebrated diversity and difference, And nurtured a spirit of peace and coexistence.

Tagore's nationalism was not blind or narrow,
It sought to celebrate and bridge, not to harrow,
A message that resonates, even today,
In a world that is divided, in every way.
