Table Manners: A Lesson From Father Poem by Mohammad Muzzammil

Table Manners: A Lesson From Father

When called, to the table, come straight away,
Kings are polite with their punctuality on display.

When sipping soup, do so softly and slow,
From the side of the spoon, let the etiquette show.

Avoid wriggling, keep still in your chair,
Else people will think, ants are hiding in there.

Converse only after finishing each mouthful with care,
Chewing like a cow, will leave others in despair.

Stay seated until everyone's done with their food,
Good manners dictate, it's not something crude.

Then, leaning back with a mighty belch,
Father proclaims, so much better out than felt!
