Teacher Poem by Jaishree Nair

Teacher

Rating: 5.0

If you had not cleared my path of thorns and stones
and spread the carpet of roses
dipped in the fragrance of love
I would not have been able
to ignite the wings of my dreams....

If you had not opened the door of sunshine
guiding the reins of freedom
with letters of wisdom
I would not have been able
to tread the walks of life with confidence...

If you had not curtailed my train of thoughts
straying from the path of righteousness
stubbornly refusing to give into my excuses
I would not have been able
to move ahead with the dignity of a clear conscious...

If you had not instilled in me thoughts noble and fair
helping me to open my inner eye of virtuousness
to sow the seeds of goodness
I would not have been able
to follow your footsteps
and lead the young to the light of knowledge...
