The Best Is Yet To Come Poem by Koffi B Sossou

The Best Is Yet To Come

Rating: 5.0

They were all looking forward to my birth on Monday
But my time hadn't come yet
So on, my mother suffered
Through pain, and uneasiness
And she finally made it on Friday (I was born)
At the right time

Life was not in our favor
Tough and thorny ways we've been through
In search of daily bread
Instead, there were days we went to bed without bread
But today, we dress and eat healthy
At the right time

She was angry and mad, not my mother,
When her co-worker was promoted
She thought she deserved the promotion
And she cursed heaven and her efforts
Here she is today happy, and highly promoted
At the right time

We both took an exam, my friend and I
I passed. And it was sad he couldn't make it
He stayed my partner in crime all the way through
Two years later, he took the exam again and passed
And I am here to help him better
At the right time

Why should you wish you were someone else?
Why would you kill yourself for unknown future?
Tomorrow is a mystery
Enjoy the present
Work hard and be patient
The best is yet to come.
