The Celestial Bridge Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

The Celestial Bridge

Rating: 5.0

The bridge looks overcrowded these days
The bridge that spans the river of time
Connecting this world with the next

So vast is the river that
Nobody has ever seen the other side
Where the bridge ends

It is one misty, cloudy horizon
Into which the other end vanishes
Into which the travellers vanish

There are old men, young men
Healthy women, weak women
Intelligent men, ignorant men

Moving on in a steady stream
Without looking back
Unmindful of those left behind

Those who must continue in this world
That seems so hollow
In their absence
