The Coconut Tree - Ii Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

The Coconut Tree - Ii

Rating: 5.0

People cherish the gifts of coconut trees
Tender coconuts contain food and drink
The tasty, fleshy kernel subsides hunger
And the sweet water inside quenches thirst

It's from Copra, the dried kernel of ripe nuts
Quality edible Coconut oil is extracted
Which is famous for cooking all around
It adds to food a flavour enhancing appetite

The luxury coir mat that adds elegance
To the living rooms and office premises
Is made from the fibre of coconut husk
Processed industrially and artistically

The very many uses of coconuts are beautifully enumerated here. No part of it is wasted here in India! The coconut trees lining the coastal areas is a refreshing sight, indeed!
