The Colour Blue: Part 1 Poem by Paula Glynn

The Colour Blue: Part 1

The colour blue is painting my heart,
Like a bold work of art,
That hangs upon the wall,
And leaves everybody staring,
But this is not a negative thing:
For I am something to admire and love,
Like sunshine brightening up a day in autumn,
Or the shade of a tree in summer,
And I thank you for this,
Because you have made me see my faults,
And made me realise the error of my ways,
And that was the old me,
And I had been blue deep inside,
It was like I had gotten onto a horse and rode,
Into oblivion, like a star exploding in space,
And making me get out of this rat race,
And there are rats out there, watching me hurt,
But I am no longer blue,
I have rejoiced a new freedom,
And I have a different view,
And now my heart is painted to warmth of pink,
Like a summer sundown on a beautiful beach,
So don't forsake me or leave me alone,
Because here is a real kind of love,
That will always freely roam,
As I walk the ends of the earth,
Searching for something I can call my own,
Knowing that happiness will come to me as I roam,
And I am rich as I walk this life,
And the old colour blue will dissipate,
As I live out my destiny: my fate,
And paint your heart a beautiful sunny sky blue.
