The Critic Poem by Amanda Lukas

The Critic

I see we have a critic amongst us
who dares not write a word.
Reminds me of the baseball fan
who's never once picked up a bat,
but criticizes and despises the Yankees
because she lost money on that last bet.
A Scrooge of scrutiny
who chooses
to leave herself invulnerable
while belittling
those that dare to indulge
in openness,
knowing that a masterpiece
in their minds
could be trash
in the eyes of another.

I suppose Miss Sarah Beth
is scared to death (pun intended!)
of gambling with her own
insecurities.
A bit too timid to
tempt it, eh?
