The Danger Of Floods Poem by Kewayne Wadley

The Danger Of Floods

Don't tell me you love me, Else
My heart will hear you.
Modern handheld technology, the flicker of bright lights.
The manuscript of different size fonts.
My heart throbs of rapid warning.
Suffocating in regret,
The grief felt from warm lips.
Secrets poured in the cusp of our hands.
Without an umbrella I was soaked in the wave of your heart.
Without warning they rose,
The wave of your heart.
Over flooding in sincere lies, when will the flood subside.
My heart raced in the sounds that flared in the sky.
Horns signifying that the water broke through the levee in bitter outrage. The constant overlapping of waves.
An stimulus impatient to blocked roadways and over run storm drains.
Casualties unable to recognize the danger of the smallest thing,
A significant build up released.
The steady flow of anger lost in the blur of a moment.
Don't tell me you love me, Else
My heart will hear you.
Don't tell me your crying, Else
I'll feel their empathy. Unable to hear anything outside the floodgate of your heart.
The seeping of water easing through the levee.
The pressure, washed away by a simple glance of your eye.
The obstruction of things that block our view,
Lies told in the reflection of each others stare.
The tears of your eyes.
Bright lit fragments sent by the touch of thumbs.
The forecast of predicted weather on a Google search browser.
The evacuation of insecurities in search of a safe haven,
Caution thrown to the wind.
A tide swept through, carrying away everything in sight.
My heart will hear you, mistaking your words,
Contracting the taste of each syllable as everlasting promise.
The circling staircase that ascends upward to higher ground.
In deep concern of the climax that left us laying flat.
This wave in your heart, with the mechanical mechanisms to the levee no longer working.
Don't tell me you love me, cause in a blur of moments.
I'll soon believe it,
Washed away by the flood that subsides in your heart
