My heart sunk while I was standing
On the pavements of Hamelin town
Grieving along with its mothers' souls
The disappearance of their children
Like a hungry dragon Mount Kooppenberg
Opened its mouth and swallowed them,
It was the brutal revenge of a strange piper
That made him lead the kids to the mount
It was the pied piper with a magical tune in his pipe
Led the entire rats to river Weser and drowned
When Life in Hamelin became miserable
And the exploding rat population sickening
Denial of the deal amount made him desperate
And deciding to avenge played another tune
Under the spell of which all the children gathered
And followed the pied piper to the mountain
It is confusing, who was treacherous in the tale
The strange pied piper who avoided the rats
Or the mayor who denied the deal amount
Or the people of Hamelin who lost their children?
Thank you very much dear poet Kostas Lagos for the commrnts
Behind this pied piper of the magical tune is hidden the tragedy of life.....
Thank you very much dear poet Mahtab. Though a legendary tale it still has the power to move people's heart

A poignant piece of work...highly expressive! My favourite lines: Like a hungry dragon Mount Kooppenberg/Opened its mouth and swallowed them/It was the brutal revenge of a strange piper/That made him lead the kids to the mount....pulsating expression. Brilliantly penned..10
