The Heavenly Cadillac (Fr. Carmel Azzopardi) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

The Heavenly Cadillac (Fr. Carmel Azzopardi)

Rating: 5.0

I remember this day six years ago
Yr spirit went, leaving yr body
For us to bury
And all those days watching you die
Took a toll on everybody
But now, it's me who's still mourning
Mum lost it after the funeral
And she never recovered
She's with you now
Causing me to not fall back
To happiness
You both were precious to me
Seeing you driving in that big Cadillac
On heaven's highway
I sit alone wanting to be in the back seat

Death of loved ones always stings. Great memories could alleviate the pain that created a hole in our heart.

They completed their journey and preferred to take permanent sleep. You can no more wake them up. They have passed the baton to you...

A beautifully written, touching tribute, LeeAnn. God blessed us with memory, to comfort us when loved ones are no longer with us.5 stars.

My heart goes out to you, LeeAnn. I can totally empathize with you on this one. My father had also owned an used Cadillac. And some of my fondest memories are associated with that classic car. A beautiful tribute to parents whom you had loved very much.

Carry the legacy that they left behind. It's painful to lose your parents but we must endure.. this is life.
