The Idea Poem by Mark Dillon

The Idea

Rating: 5.0

I've given great hopes to many a dream.
Brought despair and the desperate scream.
Been kicked around and turned upside down.
Made a lot 0f people smile and others frown.

Shaped many different cultures
and drove others to extinction.
Was the bringer of master plans
and woe's and predictions.

I'm only an instant away, yet as distant as the sun.
I can take the shape of a saviour or a gun.
I've been used to bring about the worst and the best
depending on in whose mind I take rest.
The fate of this planet is within my domain
and mankinds decisions to cherish life or be slain.

Fantastic! ! Superb portrayal of all that is wrong in our world, especially how it is treated with disdain and contempt. Depending on whose mind these thoughts of good and evil lie, these things can be changed by those who care. Thank you, Mark for your comments on my poem: Clouded Mind, I think we all have these days, I like to hide them behind the clouds so I may have at least a little semblance of peace. Take care, RoseAnn
